John Boyd
John Boyd founded TIC Properties, LLC in 2001 after recognizing a need for suitable property alternatives for investors conducting IRS §1031 tax-deferred exchanges. He has always been at the forefront of business trends, opening Boyd Corporation, South Carolina’s leading full-service qualified intermediary firm, in 1991 when he saw a lack of these services to southeastern investment property owners. As awareness grew of IRS §1031 exchanges, a new problem arose for investors: the availability of suitable replacement property that could be found in the short 45-day window. TIC Properties was the next logical step in the creation of full service real estate investment alternatives. He continued his forward-thinking objectives, and the firm now offers a host of real estate investment options for all types of investors.
As Chief Executive Officer, Boyd is responsible for the strategic planning of the firm, investment analysis and review, and assisting in the selection and acquisition of the firm’s real estate assets. A graduate of Furman University, Boyd has a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting, holds a South Carolina real estate broker license, is a former CPA, and was a finalist in the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards. He is one of only a few real estate professionals in South Carolina with the designation of Certified Exchange Specialist and holds FINRA Series 7, 24, 27 and 63 licenses.
